keating joins us from tampa, and the numbers. it was crazy yesterday, phil. >> absolutely, reportedly six hour waits at certain locations in miami-dade county outside of the precinct on friday, three and a half hours all day long to stand in line, shuffle forward and finally cost their ballot. the numbers are big despite the fact in 2008 there was early voting on this sunday before election day, this year, there is not. and that's been a point of convention, democrats and democrat leaning groups have called that voting suppression engineered by the republican dominated legislature and governor's office in the state of florida. however, despite those cries, the numbers have been as good as they were back in 2008. take a look at numbers right now. nearly 4 million, this is through friday, nearly 4 million floridians voted early, by early voting or absentee ballot. and the way it breaks down, the most early voters stand in line and cast their ballot, 45% of those people are registered democrats, 36 are registered republicans so clearly democrats have the edge there on early voting, but when

, the fiscal cliff is one artificial construct cooked up by the congress and the president to basically get us to think about a much bigger problem, which is what you pointed out. entitlement reform and tax reform and all the big issues and putting america into the accounts. the problem is the president -- i mean, you know, frankly has all the leverage here. so he doesn't need to compromise that much to get half, if not three-quarters of what he wants. >> i think the president is feeling that he has the leverage. one thing we've seen is he's going to take this message to the people. it seems to me he's learned a little bit from the fights he had before, leaving it all in washington giving the republicans a lot of leverage. making it a national fight and bringing in the voters makes it something with more leverage. did he learn? is he going to play this fight out differently? >> if there's anything he learned from the election but not just the national election but where you had the referendum where people were very, very happy by and large to let the rich pay more. i think you're going to see

: well, police know who they are looking for but they won't tell us any suspect information. they still do have this area at jacqueline road and esqella parkway blocked off. the officer was making a traffic stop and the driver started shooting at the officer. the officer stopped the car for a moving violation. the officer got out of his car and the driver of the other car did too and started to fire. >> he fled the location in his vehicle. >> reporter: again, you heard the driver took off. now there is a search going on for him. police have his license plate number and are trying to track him down. but again, they are not releasing any information about what kind of vehicle he's driving or any description of him. so people who live in this area are concerned. they say shootings usually don't happen here and they really would like to know some more information because at this point, we know that there is a man on the loose and he's armed with a gun. we're not sure if he fled somewhere in this neighborhood or if he's taken off to another city. we do know that this intersection will be clo
